We could not have asked for a more beautiful July day to start our Brandywine Valley Water Garden Tour weekend! Stellar blue skies and moderate temperatures ensured the most enjoyable of days for our quests. If you aren’t familiar with this Pond Tour let us explain a bit about what we do. This annual tour and fundraiser offers the opportunity to visit over 40 properties with Ponds and Pondless Waterfalls in Chester County and the surrounding areas, while raising much needed funds for the Chester County Food Bank. For the past 11 years Turpin Landscaping has been organizing this tour and my how it has grown!
One of our goals as we plan this tour is to offer visitors as much diversity as possible. From waterfalls, to ponds and fountains, there is just so many ways to add water to ones property. But lets be honest, if you were lucky enough to be out on a beautiful summer day at multiple pond sites you were also able to enjoy so much more! Of course there were many beautiful Koi to entrance us with their dazzling colors and varying shapes and sizes. But please don’t overlook the word “Garden” in this tour. Although each property on this tour included a pond, often it also included gardens. From Formal, to English, to Cottage, to Vegetable & Herb, and the list continues on and it is as diverse as the homeowners. 
The inspiration continued as we visited custom structures, outdoor kitchens, fire elements, spas and many other unique elements that added to the excitement. So if ponds, waterfalls, fountains, Koi, gardens with custom features, weren’t enough, many encountered honeybees, dragonflies and butterflies, to mention just a few of our smallest wildlife. Saturday night dinner was a Barbecue back at Turpin Landscaping; after that the fun really began! There was live music, a Live and Silent Auction and many Raffle items. All in all, it was a wonderful day and we still had Sunday to look forward too! This tour exemplified the beauty and the caring of so many individuals. From our generous sponsors, to our kind and giving homeowners, to the many hard working volunteers, we certainty couldn’t do this tour without all of you.
