Last month seven of the Turpin team headed to Chicago to attend Pondemonium 2016. What, you ask is Pondemonium 2016? It’s the premier educational and networking event for the Water Garden industry. Basically, it’s a large group of Certified Aquascape Contractors (CAC) and their teams who love the Pond Lifestyle and they get together for workshops and to share information, insight and motivation. This year’s theme was Leading the Change! Aquascape the leading manufacture of water garden products globally, hosts the convention. New products are introduced and many tried and true products are discussed as well. Greg Wittstock, whom some of you might know from the show Pond Stars, is the CEO of Aquascape and is a very enthusiastic, high energy motivator, to say the very least. This annual convention has had an enormous impact on the Turpin Landscaping team providing training to help make us one of the top installers in the country.
What can we say…….YOUR GENEROSITY OVERWHELMS US! To all our customers, committee members, sponsors and family members who have supported us, and to all our friends who have worked tirelessly along side of us, we humbly thank you from the bottom or our hearts! Your gift of time and talent has made the presentation of this donation possible. Thursday, October 1st we presented a check in the amount of $16,500.00 to Larry Welsch, Executive Director of the Chester County Food Bank. This donation is the cumulative effort of many generous sponsors and customers who opened their properties for one or more of our annual Pond and Garden Tour Fund Raisers. The food bank serves over 90 food cupboards and meal sites. Near and dear to our heart is the Raised Bed Gardens program that was started in 2009 with just 25 beds at six sites. Today they have 621 gardens at 122 sites, including 49 schools. The Children’s Backpack Program is another worthwhile cause that is supported through the tour. For more than 10 years with the help of our friends, families and generous sponsors we have been able to donate over $80,000.00 to the Chester County Food Bank! We could not be more grateful to each and every one of you for making the 2015 season of Pond and Garden Tours an AMAZING success!
It is crunch time for all of us at Turpin Landscaping and for all the pond owners who have graciously agreed to open not only their ponds but their properties for the Pond Tour and BBQ as well, for this wonderful fundraiser. We may be a bit weary as we put in a lot of preparation but we know that in the end it will be well worth the effort! One of our pond owners sent us a photo of her Lotus blooming in full splendor. This photo sure gave all of us a little jolt of adrenaline knowing that this beauty and hundreds more blooms await our guests for the Brandywine Valley Water Garden Tour. Thanks Kate, for sharing this photo with all of us. [Read more…]
